The Asian Fur Trade Conference was inaugurated in Hong Kong in 1995, with four founder members: the Hong Kong Fur Federation, the Japan Fur Association, the Korea Fur Industry Co-operative, and the China National Native Produce and Animal by-products Import and Export Corporation.

The main objectives of the Conference were to enhance friendship and exchange views and ideas to create better mutual understanding, generate co-operation between members and form a united front in Asia to advance consumer promotion and the development of new markets. Subsequent meetings of the Asian Fur Trade Conference have been held in Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing and Hong Kong, and have proved to be very positive and constructive. In 2007, the Conference was held in Beijing in July.

Since the founding of the Asian Fur Trade Conference, the four members have gained a better understanding of each other and pledged to tackle common problems together. In the future, the Asian Fur Trade Conference will continue promoting the fur trade in the Asian region, which will be beneficial for the whole fur industry world-wide.
