The mood was soft, easy and luxurious at the Spring/Summer 2005 women's designer collections in New York, Paris, London and Milan. A triumphant trend the previous season, fur continues to evolve into an accepted year-round luxury material. Here are the fur trends enriching Spring/Summer 2005 fashions.

A Fur for All Seasons. Fur is now the ultimate creative design material. With today's latest techniques and manufacturing innovations, designers rework pelts into season-less fur. There are those, like
Michael Kors, who colour luxury skins like mink and fox the hues of rainbows; Kors' turquoise ombre mink jacket imparts a modern glamour worn with white denim jeans. On a dressier note, J. Mendel uses a horizontal cut for his full-length Russian Barguzine sable coat. Roberto Cavalli takes beach-side luxury to the extreme with a crochet fox poncho ¡V just the thing to top off the latest bikini.

Soft & Sexy. Lady-like prettiness continues for both casual and formal styles as designers add precision dressmaking details. At
Gustavo Arango, a raspberry feathered fox cardigan jacket accents a slender iridescent pencil skirt. Nostalgia colours Clements Ribeiro's fox wrap topping a butterfly-printed chiffon dress. Venexiana¡@puts a white mink bolero with a ruffled chiffon top and loose pants. Meanwhile, fur maintains its glam, as in Venexiana's multi-toned pink fox wrap cloaking a sequined pink leather dress and Zang Toi's silver fox shrug draping a sequined evening dress. At J. Mendel, marshmallow Russian Barguzine sable garnishes the sleeves of a cropped suede jacket.

Print Wonders. Solid-toned furs offer accents to all kinds of patterns on prominent display for spring.
Roberto Cavalli drapes a brown crochet mink wrap over an animal print tiered skirt. Cavalli's tiny animal print fox-trimmed bolero highlights a jungle-patterned evening gown. Meanwhile, J. Mendel pins a ruby mink bolero over a wild floral design.
